12:00 PM Fishers (6-1) vs. Homestead (6-2)

Fishers gets their crack at Homestead, which is looking to go 2-0 vs Hamilton County. (Homestead plays Hamilton Southeastern later today too.) I think Fishers would like to play at a faster pace, as it would create more space for Jeffrey Simmons, as well as freshman Jalen Haralson, who will some day be a player at the varsity who can just go get a basket when needed. Right now, Homestead's Fletcher Loyer is that guy.

Playing faster unleashes Loyer, not just his scoring but his improved playmaking. It also creates more space for the brothers Leeper, who are both strong players and great around the basket. However, Fishers can matchup with anyone on the physical side.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if these types of matchups slow down because one team wants the slower tempo, or because it just becomes a chess match.

  • 7:30 PM Kokomo (5-2) vs. Zionsville (7-0)

Off to their best start since 2016, Kokomo travels to Zionsville to face the #1 Eagles. Fiory Bidunga's first match during this school season against legitimate D1 size. Nick RIchart is getting into his sea legs, so to speak, and Isaiah Davis is playing his role as a stretch 4 to script.

Bidunga, whom we've not written much about -- yet, is a physical marvel at 6'10", tremendous length and bounce. His skills are budding, and he can make spectacular plays on both ends of the floor. Kokomo is young in the backcourt, and battling against Logan Imes might ultimately be tell tale of this game.

Lake Central off to their best start since 2016 is looking to keep that going vs. a Munster team that has reeled off five wins out of their last six meetings. Munster's Brandon Trilli continues his production, and David Cundiff has stepped up in his bigger varsity role. LC's trio of 6'4" forwards provide strength and skill in the front court, and they're getting good guard play from Yeklich.
