A special night at Blackhawk Christian. Before the game, Blackhawk Christian honored Coach Mark Davidson and his family with a ceremony celebrating his legacy and what he meant to the Blackhawk Christian community.

The first half was back and forth with Blackhawk holding a slim lead throughout. Blackhawks Gage Sefton battled foul trouble in the 1st half with 2 early fouls. Sophomore Kellen Pickett was really impressive and lead the Braves in the 1st half with Sefton on the bench. Too many miscues hurt Fort Wayne North in the 2nd half and Blackhawk was able to capitalize and extend the lead.

  • 6'8 Blackhawk Sophomore Kellen Pickett opened a lot of eyes last night. Pickett finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds. I love his motor and he has good hands and feet at 6'8. Showed great touch around the basketball and knocked down 2 3's as well. D1 coaches need to get eyes on him if they haven't already.
  • Gage Sefton, Josh Furst, and Jimmy Davidson are their returning starters from last year and clearly their leaders. Sefton ended with 10 points and you can tell he has gotten stronger and more explosive. Josh Furst ended with 9 points with most of those coming from the free-throw line. Jimmy Davidson does all the little things for Blackhawk. He rebounds it really well for a guard and has great vision. He is really good from 12 feet and in.
  • Our biggest concern with Blackhawk coming into the year was outside shooting. Last night 6'4 junior starter Isaac Smith showed that he will be that guy for them this year. Smith was their 2nd leading scorer with 15 points and showed the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter.
  • Fort Wayne North was led by 6'4 junior Brauntae Johnson. He ended with 21 points 7 assists and 6 steals. When he is attacking the rim he is really hard to stop. Tae Tae is really explosive and finishes well around the rim with either hand. Jaxson Fugate was a bright spot for Fort Wayne North as well. He ended with 9 points all from 3, but Northside needs guys who can stretch the floor and the 6'5 junior wing can certainly do that.
