Without their leading scorer, Azavier Robinson, Lawrence North went on the road and handed New Palestine their first loss of the season.
- New Pal, like a lot of teams, struggle vs. quickness, and it really only takes a couple of players in a rotation to get sped up to disrupt what a team is doing. Driving gaps get wider, drives normally getting to the rim are a little wider. Help arrives more quickly, creating more deflections.
- Even with Robinson, LN isn’t centered around one player. Kobe Bowles orchestrates the offense for the most part, and his slippery, surgical attacks on the paint create openings, most of the times for others. He’s able to get to the paint even to get his own shot with a variety of finishes, and he’s a willing passer with great vision.
- LN shot well beyond the 3PT line, especially after the 1st quarter. They had five different players hit 3PTers last night.
- Bowles struggled to finish in the first half but got some traction in the second.
- The spark for LN was Myles Baker. He got to the basket often, then started to hit from outside as the game progressed. He kept them afloat coming off the bench, early in the game, and in the second playing alongside Bowles was even better.
- Ian Stephens was his usual versatile self for New Pal. He makes plays on the both ends of the floor. He hit from behind the 3PT line, a progressing skill for him. He was contested at the rim a couple of times without the benefit of a foul, but LN has their fair share of players who can jump with him.
- New Pal executes in the half court well. They’re a physical team. Once LN was able to adjust and contest vertically, their athleticism made finishing around the basket tougher for New Pal.
- Super impressed with the defense of Ty Cunningham, and LN has one of the best undersized rim protectors in Mase Hughes.
