Bedford North Lawrence hit Bloomington North in the mouth right away and jumped out to a 9-0 lead. BNL had a slim lead most of the game until the very last second. JQ Roberts hit a 14-foot jumper as time expired to win the game. BNL was up 1 with under 30 seconds to go, going to the line for a 1 and 1 and missed. BNL got another stop and went to the line for a 1 and 1 and missed again. Plenty of chances for BNL to put the game away but couldn't make their free throws.

  • Senior point guard Colten Staggs for BNL ran the show for them all night. Great quickness and handle. Showed the ability to hit threes and get by his defender and hit some pull-up jumpers. Also, scored it around the rim.
  • Senior guard Colten Leach for BNL was impressive as well. Seemed like he was consistently getting by his defender and hitting jumpers and finishing at the rim.
  • JQ Roberts started off the game slow going 0-3 from three, but certainly got it going after that. JQ ended with 31 points and 12 rebounds. He did hit some 3's in this one but much more effective getting to the rim. He is hard to stop if he gets a straight path to the rim. Want to see him get better at being productive when he is initially stopped on a straight-line drive.
  • JQ had over half of Bloomington North's points so going to need more production from the others. I did like PG Davan Daniels ability to defend and get to his spots on offense. Their 2 wings, Gavin Reed and Luke Lindeman, showed the ability to hit shots from the perimeter and will be key for Bloomington North's success moving forward.
