It’s a good thing that’s it tough to narrow down a player of the week.  It means kids are playing really well and their team is winning.  Breaking a school scoring in scoring 48 points would typically win the week.  Covenant Christian’s Noah Hedrick  did that in their 104-46 win over Grove City Christian out of Ohio.  The 6’4″ senior wing went 17-32 from the floor, including a stout 10-16 from 3pt.

Going 3-0 in a week and being a big part of that also warrants a great deal of consideration.  than Knepp, 6’3″ sophomore guard from Barr-Reeve, put together as complete of a week as possible.  Barr-Reeve won the week-long Old National Bank Classic at North Daviess, and Knepp won the MVP.

While guarding the other teams’ best players, including Blackford’s Luke Brown and former POTW Jack Townsend from North Daviess Knepp put up the following numbers:

  • vs. Brownstown – 28 points; 10 rebounds; and 2 assists
  • vs. Blackford – 24 points; 8 rebounds; and 6 assists
  • vs. North Daviess – 11 points; 8 rebounds; 2 assists

However, the Player of the Week presented by Metro Indy Basketball for the week of December 23-December 29 is Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian’s Caleb Furst.  This is the second week for Furst.  The 6’9″ junior center led Blackhawk Christian to a 3-0 record at the Noblesville Invitational with wins over Chesterton, Northridge and Columbus North.

In those wins Furst put up…

  • vs. Chesterton – 22 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks
