Home Game Center Game CenterGame Takes Game Takes: Fort Wayne North 71 Fort Wayne Blackhawk 63 By Dominique - November 29, 2023 FacebookTwitterReddIt Great home win for FW North on Tuesday night. Jaxson Fugate, Eugene Young Jr, and Javion Davenport lead the legends. There were times last year when Fugate and Young Jr were a little inconsistent, but that was not the case Tuesday night. Both were taking turns hitting shots from all over the court. The story on Blackhawk Tuesday night was about players fitting into different roles. Kellen Pickett goes from being a really nice piece to their go-to guy. Isaac Smith and Aiden Muldoon go from 5th and 6th options to 2nd and 3rd options. Bryce Sefton goes from best player on JV to varsity starter. All of them struggled at times which is expected in their first game, but I expect Blackhawk to be much improved as the season goes on and will be a contender in the 2A north come March. 6'5 2024 wing Jaxson Fugate got the ball rolling for Northside right away. He came out and had 7 quick points. Fugate has good length and athleticism to go along with his shot-making ability. If he continues to add strength and the ability to get to the rim and score, I think his recruiting can make a jump. Fugate ended with 19 points on the night. 6'5 2024 wing Eugene Young Jr played really well in this one. He hit a lot of timely shots in the 2nd half when Blackhawk was starting to gain a little momentum. He loves the elbow midrange jumper. He can certainly knock down the three-ball as well. He had it all working on Tuesday night. Adding the ability to take his defender off the dribble and make plays in the paint makes his recruiting jump as well like Fugate. Young Jr also ended with 19 points. 5'10 2024 guard Javion Davenport was huge for FW North in this one. Davenport plays with a ton of confidence and is not afraid of the moment. He is relentless getting downhill and getting into the paint. He was finishing from about 6 feet and in tonight and hit a lot of his free throws. If he can be that consistent 3rd option for Northside, they will have another strong season and a chance at another sectional title. Davenport ended with 20 points unofficially. 6'8 2025 Forward Kellen Pickett is going to have to get used to being the go-to guy every night for Blackhawk which he well. He left some things on the table tonight that usually go for him, but he affects the game in so many ways. Really liked his ability to get the ball in transition and go the length of the court and finish at the rim. His perimeter shot wasn't falling tonight but that is definitely a part of his game and he has proven that. Pickett affected shots at the rim by Northside. He got at least 3 blocks and affected a handful of others. Pickett is going to keep getting more comfortable being the #1 option as the season goes on and will put up some big-time performances. He ended up with 22 in this one. 5'10 2024 guard Aiden Muldoon is going to be a big piece for Blackhawk this year. Muldoon is a kid who can knock down perimeter shots and get into the lane off the dribble and make plays. He plays with a fearlessness that works to his advantage. He had a little foul trouble in the 3rd quarter which hurt Blackhawk. I think he is going to have to be that #2 option behind Pickett this year and I think he will thrive in that role. Muldoon ended with 15 points. RELATED ARTICLESMORE FROM AUTHOR Game Takes: Fishers 74, Noblesville 40 Game Take: Ben Davis 56, Zionsville 45 Game Previews: Saturday, November 30
