Bloomington South held a 4-2 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.  Yes, you read that right.  Both teams struggled to get opportunities to fall.  Barr-Reeve scored 13 points in the second quarter to go into half time with a 15-8 lead.  In the third quarter both teams found ways to get points on the board and Bloomington South was making it a game with the score 33-27 after 3.  South went on a furious run in the 4th to bring it to as close as 4 but couldn't buy a bucket for the last couple of minutes.

  • While South lacks good size they are crazy athletic and play hard all game long.  Their on the ball defense will give some team fits.
  • Maddix Blackwell of Bloomington South was the catalyst the Panthers needed to get the offense going.  He was getting to the rim with ease and scoring.  He was great on defense and didn't allow easy passes in to the post.
  • Curt Hopf of Barr-Reeve has worked hard to improve his out side shot.  He knocked down a triple and it was with out hesitation.
  • Hagen Knepp of Barr-Reeve was good around the rim.  He recognized mismatches and demanded the ball.  His mid range shot was a little off but his game continues to improve.
  • Joey Bomba of Bloomington South has a good looking stroke from the perimeter.  He will be the main scoring option for the panthers this season.  South done a nice job of getting him clean looks.
