Home Game Center Game Takes Game Takes Game Take: Ben Davis 56, Zionsville 45 By Jim R - December 2, 2024 FacebookTwitterReddIt Ben Davis took control of the game early and took a 24 point lead into the half. Zionsville's third quarter closed the gap, cutting their deficit to four. Ben Davis was able to stem the tide, and anytime Zionsville pushed to get close, Ben Davis turned Zionsville empty possessions into easy baskets. Ben Davis started to answer questions about a secondary perimeter threat, alongside Mark Zackary. JaShawn Ladd is vying to be that player. The 6'4" junior wing produced 18 points, leading the Giants in scoring. Jahmir Avery, who missed their scrimmage and opening game vs. Fishers, was excellent commanding the offense in the half court. He was patient in traffic, manipulating the defense. Tavion Williams was the main recipient of this. The 6'7" senior forward is still most comfortable around the basket, but he was the other known quantity coming into this season. Maguire Mitchell and Drew Snively continue most of the heavy lifting for Zionsville. The senior duo are about 90% of their offense -- shot making and shot creation. Both struggled to get going early, but Mitchell started to get traction in the 2nd quarter. Snively's production came mostly in the third, and Zionsville started to claw their way back. Ultimately Ben Davis was able convert in transition more easily, including off second chance points.
