The 3-4 Blackhawks hosted the 2-5 Rebels from South Spencer. The Rebels jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead but it was short lived as the Hawks raced out to a 17- 12 lead after 1 that extended to 42-24 by halftime. Valley used a balanced scoring attack tonight and were 1 Jaheim Hamilton point away from putting 5 kids in double figures. The senior ended with 9 while sophomore Keyton Jones finished with 10, junior James Walls with 14, junior Deion Edwards with 19, and senior Konner Chase leading the Hawks with 20 in a 82-72 win for Valley. South Spencer junior Ty Brown led the Rebels with a game high 21 points. The Hawks next travel to Henryville for their holiday tournament on December 28.

● 5'10 senior point guard Konner Chase is aggressive at getting to the basket for Valley. He is a capable outside shooter that showed he can hit the outside shot. Chase is best when getting downhill in transition as is most of this Valley team. Chase is averaging 17.3 ppg in the year.

● 6'4 junior wing Deion Edwards was limited in the 1st half due to rolling his ankle but came out in the 2nd scoring 15 of his 19 points. Edwards best ability that I saw was his vision and distributing the ball to cutters. Edwards is big enough to score a variety of ways inside and out but showed guard-like ability with his handling and passing the ball. Deion has good basketball instincts and is a natural athlete. When his outside shot is consistent there's nothing stopping him from scoring 30 on a given night. He thrives in transition when going downhill to the basket. Edwards averages 21 pts and 8 rbs per game and plays with the EG10 aau program out of Indianapolis. With the right coach in the right system he could play at the next level if given the chance.

● 6'0 guard Ty Brown caught fire for the Rebels in this game scoring 21 pts to lead all scorers. Brown is a quarterback on the football team but showed really nice range and shooting ability tonight on the basketball court. He is long and active which allows him to finish through contact and in transition. If South Spencer can play like they did in the 4th quarter they could surprise some teams. They are not afraid to shoot the 3.
