Going into this one we kinda knew the Bulldogs would be outmatched, but I wanted to get eyes on one of my favorite teams in the state. Crown Point senior and sharp shooting Bellarmine commit AJ Lux had 20 in this one. But the Kingsmen were just too much to overcome, led by Notre Dame commit Markus Burton and his 33. With these two being committed, I'm leaving them off of my scouting notes.

  • There's no reason Penn senior guard Joey Garwood shouldn't be all over D3 and even some NAIA radars. He can shoot it, defends well, rebounds really well, and has a great motor. Works really hard on and off the court. Had 15 in this one and 22 against Clay in their first game. Kinda glue guy you'd love to have on your squad. Time for some offers.
  • 6'8 senior Josh Gatete should have a number of NAIA offers by now. He's grown 2 inches since last season. Continues to get stronger. Has tremendous touch around the basket and great shot block ability with his length. Would be a great addition to any program looking for the size and athleticism that comes at a premium. Good ceiling for sure.
  • Dylan Derda is also a senior for Penn who has improved. Really good around the rim both scoring and rebounding. Uses his length well and has improved his feet and hands. Potential to average a double-double at the next level with his work ethic. If he continues to get stronger and improve his jumper, he'd have no problems starting at the D3 level.
  • Joe Smith is just a gritty guard and can lock you up on defense. He guarded AJ for a lot of this one and helped keep him in check. Battling around screens and just staying glued to his mans hip. Offensively can knock down threes and get to the basket. Good both on and off the ball. Should have a number of D3 offers by now.
