Home Game Center Game Center Game Takes: Michigan City 111 – Marquette Catholic 65 By Zak T - December 2, 2020 FacebookTwitterReddIt The Recap: This is a game I wanted to get to when I first saw schedules coming out. Michigan City had basically everyone coming back from a very solid team last season, led by one of the most underrated and electrifying players in the 2023 class in Jamie Hodges Jr. I'll get to more of this Michigan City squad below. Another reason I wanted to get to this game was to see how 2022 guard Brit Harris stacked up against some tough competition. I will also touch on this result below, but overall, this game ended up getting out of hand unfortunately, and being a little lopsided. Six Takes: This Michigan City team has the same feel as last year when I saw them a couple times, but there seems to be something a little different. More grit. More heart. They more than make up for their lack of size with the way they all battle and fight. Have depth. Very scrappy and they are relentless on D. Forced 20 turnovers. I'm on board with MC. Jamie Hodges Jr. is one of the top point guards in the 2023 class. Loves getting downhill, isn't afraid to attack the basket, can finish through contact, will rebound, can pass, and locks down on D. Truly a swiss army knife. All 5'9" of him. Finished with a solid 20 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 4 steals. To compliment Hodges Jr. you can add senior leader, guard/forward 6'4" Evan Bush. Showed his range in this one, along with his inside game. Worked really hard, and I could tell he's improved since last time I saw the Wolves. He's a player I could see as a 3 at the next level. I had him for 19 points 3 3's, and 7 rebounds. Another senior who has really stepped up is 6' senior guard Tahari Watson. He was strokin it, and was really good in transition. Very solid defender as well. Got to the basket as well. Would be a good 2 at the next level. Tahari had 21 points with 5 3's. I first heard of 6'2" 2022 guard Brit Harris last year during the season, but never was able to see him play. That all changed at the end of this summer at Indiana Game Championship Sunday where he really impressed. He impressed me again in this one and showed he could hang with some tougher competition. He ended up with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. He handled the ball decently in this one, and played with a little swag. Really interested in his development going forward. Length and athleticism are there. Right now, probably projects as a 2 or 3 at the next level. 6' sophomore Gary Lewis ended the night with 22 points and hit 4 3's. Really liked his game as he showed the ability to shoot it, and also finish at the rim. Junior Kaden Manna stands at strong 6'4". This was a tough one for him but still showed some flashes of being a solid player. Rebounded and defended well. Scored some around the bucket. Both are guys to keep an eye on.
