7:30 PM Carmel (0-0) vs. Zionsville (0-0)

Carmel has lost their last two trips to Zionsville, both season openers. Defensive matchups on Suder and Imes will be the first thing to look for. It would seem both need to look to score more, which opens up their play making, a strength for both. Carmel has the advantage defensively in terms of individual defenders.

The return of Davis after a year at Greenwood Christian gives Zionsville a complimentary big to Richart, and it will be a matchup most teams could struggle to guard. Carmel counters with Williams and has length all over the place.

As much as both teams clog the paint on defense, an X-factor will be which team gets going from the 3pt line, as well as extra possessions (offensive rebounds, turnovers).

  • 7:30 PM Cardinal Ritter (0-0) vs. Brebeuf Jesuit (0-0)

With 3A wide open, Brebeuf is poised to take a big step forward on the backs of Smith, who is committed to Miami (OH), and the emerging Puou.

The last time Ritter beat Brebeuf was in 2005 -- seven losses in a row -- and while they may not break that this time around, it's their best team in three seasons. While they lack size, they have a talented backcourt headed by Turner and Miller.

    7:30 PM Lewis Cass (0-0) vs. Carroll (F) (0-0)

Both teams are led by strong junior class and hope there is a rematch at Regionals in March. Carroll was upset in last year's sectional final by a good Rossville team, while Cass looks to get over the 13 win hump.

  • Carroll (F) Cougars
  • 7:30 PM Wapahani (0-0) vs. Southwood (0-0)

Southwood will be young, but this group is used to winning and seeing winning teams. Wapahani, with Franks and Andrews, has a lot of fire power, and let's face it, Coach Luce can flat out coach.
