The losers in the first round will come back tomorrow night for consolation bracket games, while the winners go into a bracket that will give them two games on Saturday. 11:00am - Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian (5-1) vs Chesterton (7-0) Thought FWBC is 3-0 vs. 4A teams, two are down this year, and Culver Academy played without its top player Trey Galloway. In their loss to Silver Creek, Caleb Furst was tremendous on both ends, and Zane Burke impressed, but they didn't have much when all three stars were rolling for Silver Creek. Chesterton has bodies to throw at Furst, and they have the perimeter shooting to put a lot of pressure on Furst in the middle, especially with Jake Wadding soaking up a lot of defensive attention. Blake Barker and Nicholas Schiavello carry most of the load, but they get balance support behind them as five other players score between 5-8 points per game. New Albany returns to Hamilton County after winning on the road at Carmel last weekend, and their inside presence, Trey Hourigan, is playing as expected. They've been without his classmate, Julien Hunter with an injury, but two sophomore guards Tucker Biven and Kaden Stanton have stepped up. Vs. Blackhawk Christian at the Tip Off Classic at Southport, Silver Creek's Trey Kaufman struggled vs Caleb Furst, and while he's a logical matchup to Heritage Hills' Blake Sisley, Kooper Jacobi slowed Furst down in the second half and put four of his fouls onto him. Sisley and Kaufman both bring an impressive range of skill sets, but the best performance of the day in Southport was by Jacobi. They have a mixture of defenses that caused issues in their Lafayette area tournament to start the season, but they have yet to face the athleticism and length (and overall talent) of Lawrence Central.
